Anyone know the name (or recipe) of a bright red chutney? It had a sweet, tart, berry like flavour. I tried it at a little curry house in Maidstone, Kent a few years ago and I have not been able to find it (here in Canada) since. Whenever I ask about it at a restaurant or Indian grocery, they look at me funny.

I can’t remember the name of the restaurant; it was a long time ago.
The condiment was a very bright red, and it was served with the pappadums.

What was the restaurant called - I might be able to find out for you from them. Was it the Shamrat?

i wouldn't know, but red would imply red chillies, and the sweet would be tamarind paste among other herbs in smaller quantities.
