I've never heard of it doing so. However, it must be pushed slowly to prevent the vein from being compromised. It will burn vein if it's pushed to fast.

The promethazine would not be a cause of a stroke given thru a picc line. Promethazine is for nausea.

I haven't heard anyone having stroke after having promethazine through PICC line. Promethazine can be given intravenous which should be given with a lot of care. Vital signs should be taken prior to administration..and if the patient is on multiple narcotics, other nausea medication should be considered..as phenergan can be sedating....and can potentiate the sedating effect of any narcotics.....
