Actually, life was the closest answer... but no one has got the answer yet...
I'll add another clue: to make it out was totally unheard of in the Victorian era (for example), but the norm it seems in Biblical times... At least, in the Old Testament...

Is it their 80's?
In Biblical times people lived for hundreds of years but in Victorian times average life expectancy was nearer 40. Today life expectancy is early 80s so fewer make it out than not.
Maybe their 2nd 1/2 century would be a more accurate answer
