I've been on the Rice Diet for 4 and a half weeks, and have made big strides in my diabetes, as well as in other areas (including blood pressure, cholesterol, and weighth loss). I would highly reommend it! There's a good book called The Rice Diet Solution, in addition to the website below.

In the library link at www.hufa.org are some books that deal with good health by reducing sugar intake. There are also some books that deal with Candida yeast fungus - a condition that can flare with bodily imbalances (like diabetes).
I am currently on a modified Phase II of the "Yeast Syndrome" diet, and have lost over 10 pounds this year and am maintaining my sugars on diet alone. I have had type II diabetes since 2001-2 and was on metformin until I started this diet. My most recent HA1c was 6.3.

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...
I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:

A good way to loose weight is to stay away from the "white foods". This includes potatoes (chips, fries, ect.), do not eat fries foods, eat lots of fresh vegetables (it is healthier than canned, less sodium and sugars), eat whole grain foods (whole wheat bread, whole grain cereals), bake your meats instead, don't use gravy, and if possible invest in a george forman grill. Diet alone will not help you loose weight. The more muscle you have the more fat you burn. Try cardio and weight training.

this is what i have done,
you put the food on your plate and only eat half of it and make your self feel full.
just like you do anyway,
just put the amount of food you normally do then you only eat half of it and then you can see and feel the different in how you look and feel.then after each meal,go walking for 15 mins.and that's where the weight loss comes in to play.
you see 15 mins after your meal is when the bad fats of what you eat start to set into your body,and that's where you start to gain weight.
so if you walk and not sit down and keep moving around the fat wont have time to be sitting in your body b/c your making it leave and bypass your body.
this is called the "BYPASS" and you feel less bolted and full to that point that you want to sleep.
i have lost about 12 pounds and look and fell so much better and you can and will to.

Drink plenty of water.. Eat more vegetables and excerise. Weight Watchers is a good place to go to help out. They have plansfor diabetics. I know this because I am in weight watchers and my friend is also.. She is diabetic.. Good Luck

you only lose weight by changing your diet for this never take over the counter diet drugs as they may interfere with your insulin if your taking it eat in moderation 4-5 times a day you need to have small meals in your stomach every 3-4 hours so your body can start producing insulin stay away from greasy,fried,baked foods in your oven, heavy foods like puddings sauces etc unless it says on pkg,its low fat and 0 trans fat and drink bottled water and caffine free diet sodas
