Sugars, starches ( also a sugar ) and glutenous (wheat) foods.
Complex carbohydrates are pure sugar based... ie: candy, cookies, soda, sugar
Simple carbohydrates are based either from starch or wheat products..... ie: potatoes and anything made from them, bread, pasta, cakes (you get hit twice since they have both types)
While some vegetables may contain trace amounts of starch, the benefits of vitamins and minerals far outweigh any dietary restriction on starch.
From a dietary perspective, one is better off consuming natural, unrefined sugars and simple carbohydrates as our bodies were designed to process this energy efficiently. Moderation is a good word in this case.
