A journalist in Sudan was recently beheaded because her wrote an article questioning the parantage of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh.) Do you think that this is an appropriate punishment for writing an article like that? Can the actions of such a state (Iran falls in the same category) be justified?

to Rabbi Yohanneh: I was asking an honest question- please don't make presumptions about my feelings toward Muslims or the intent behind my question.

to rahl404: I already know more about the Prophet (pbuh) than you think. Don't make assumptions... but thank you for the link.

To everyone else: My question was wether or not Muslims (American, or otherwise) felt that execution was an appropriate punishment for blasphemy. AS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN, I DON'T believe in executing anyone for their opinion, beliefs or statements... I was hoping that someone could shed light upon this punishment in other countries.
No one has.
I'm shocked at how almost everyone here has assumed that I must be anti-Islam just for asking this question. You are mistaken. I guess I am anti-Islamic theocracies, but that's all. If I lived in Iran, Iraq, Afganistan, Sudan, Egypt, Saudi-Arabia or the United Arab Emerites, I"m sure I would have been killed by now for my free thinking and ideas..... thank God I live in America.
If America ever falls to the twisted ideals of Islamic-fascists, I will be counted among the many that are summarily executed. So be it. God/Allah didn't give us free will just to have it stifled by a group of mad-men.
