i am just borderline daibetic...but my mom has it, two of my sisters has it...my grandpa had it...a aunt has it..it just seems to run in families...that is only the family that i am close to and know about their health problems...my grandpa had it so bad they had to take part of his leg cause of a sore that started in his foot,,, and just kept cutting a little more all the time...it was so sad...he was a farmer and was so use to being outside and to see him with his leg all the way off after so many operations and then he finally died...my mother now has it so bad...she is up to 4 shots a day.... it is really something that hurts to watch family members die with it...

I am the only one that has it. Mine is a result of Cystic Fibrosis and the corresponding impact to my pancreas. It doesn't completely fit the description for type 1 or type 2 diabetes and is known as CFRD (Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes).

My grandmothers both died from diabetic complications and now my father is a diabetic and my moms twin sister is a diabetic and my son is a diabetic as well as myself.

I am a Type I and am the only person in my family with diabetes.
Type I is auto-immune, unlike Type II which is metabolic. Per the ADA a Type II has a 40% chance of having children with Type II. A Type I has a 20% chance of passing it on to her child.
The difference is that while they don't know what causes the body's immunce cells to kill off the insuling producing cells (i.e, Type I), they do know that diet and exercise (which you are taught by your family life mostly) are the leading causes of Type II.

Nobody in my family does! But of course my parents came over, after WW2, from the part of Ukraine that Poland took over after WW1. Doctors weren't a part of a day in town so maybe one of them died from diabetees complications and they just buried them!

2, my paternal grandfather had it, and my maternal grandmother.
They were both type 2 though. I am type 1. Go figure!
