Don't beat yourself up or avoid dating because you have genital herpes. 1 in 4 women have genital herpes and 1 in 5 men have it. It's not as uncommon as most people think.

I have had genital herpes for over 5 years now. Every guy I have dated STILL chose to date me when I told them I had genital herpes. They didn't think I was dirty or a s*ut or anything. They were mostly just concerned about them getting it and we made sure we were careful so I wouldn't spread it to them. I even met and dated a guy who had genital herpes.

Don't avoid dating or talking to guys just because you have genital herpes. If you end up dating someone and tell them you have genital herpes they'll either be okay with it or they won't. If they aren't okay with it, then fine, move on. There are millions of people out there with STDs, don't feel like you are the only one. Many people with STDs, including myself, are in a great, happy, healthy relationship. Get out into the dating world again and be open about dating. You don't have to do anything sexual with these guys, just go out and have some fun. Go on dates, go to the movies, out to eat, etc. Don't make yourself feel bad about it! Good luck to you!

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

From experience, BE HONEST!! I mean don't blurt it out the very first time you see him, oh by the way I have herpes. In my experience, I have told guys that if they wanted to get intimate with me, that I have herpes and would leave it up to them if they wanted to have sex or not. Most guys I've told, are very happy that I was honest with them. If you're not and they find out later, you're not going to be happy. I lost a very good friend because I wasn't honest with him. I never looked the same in his eyes. Just be honest!!

Why blow the chance while you got it, don't be afraid, i know 3 years realtionship is quite long, i really know how it feels, I've been there, but you can't just keep on ignoring guys forever. You should go on with your life, and find a new life and live your life, no one deserves to be misrerable for the rest of their lives, you deserve to be happy, so just tell the guy 'bout how you feel, and don't be afraid ; )

get on meds....talk to your dr to make sure what you have is really herpes. If you use a condom the chances that your partner will get it is low since men do not contract it as easily as women.

You need to talk to guys. Don;t be afraid to talk with them. When you feel you have a serious relationship (i.e. to have sexual relations with), then you can discuss it with them. I don;t know how old you are, but if you are younger, I would not share it so openly at first.

But anyone who wants to be with you should know that and they should always wear a condom. Good Luck!

What does being ugly have to do with anything here?
You can still talk to men but you have to tell them that you could be putting them at risk if you have sex with them.

If you do want to become initimate with him, tell him the truth. You HAVE to. Or if you are too embarrased, dont engage in sexual activity.
