We eat them by the truckload in PA, but I've heard that in most other states, people don't even know what they are.

Yes, I've had them. Have even made them a couple times. But I'm from Canada. I hear you guys don't eat Poutine much.

I've had them, and they are delicious.
I used to eat the frozen ones, the Mrs. T's you get in the freezer section of the grocery store. However, this fabulous store, called Fil's Deli, opened up in the town next to mine. (I live in CT and we have a good amount of Polish immigrants here). All authentic Polish food. Kielbasa, polish deli meats, home made soups (including my favorite pickle soup), gulumpkis, and last but not least, home made pierogis. Potato and onion, potato and cheese, sauerkraut and potato, farmers cheese.......every kind of pierogi imagineable. They are wonderful, and I no longer accept any substitutions!
My favorite way to serve pierogis, is the potato/cheese and potato/onion, sauteed in butter with finely chopped onions, served with sour cream. Delicious!

Ahhh, Ukrainian Cooking, Love it!
Try the Pierogie Hut in Edmonton. I was there several years back, and loved it. You can also buy them frozen at the Safeway.

Yep, and I like them. There are several different varieties/stuffings and they make a great meal in the winter. I happen to live close to a place that makes them fresh daily. Yum!

Yep. I had them when I lived in Canada for awhile. All the Canadians I met were bloody amazed I'd never heard of them, but they don't really exist in Oz. I loved 'em

Oh yeah, My Gramma also made them from scratch. I've had Mrs. T's, they are ok. The best are from a good Polish bakery.

Mrs. T's pierogies (in the frozen section) are quite good too.

For kicks, make pierogies in curry sauce.. yum! :)

my grandma made them from scratch, they were soooo good. She was from Pittsburgh btw... lol ...I live in CA and I found some at the store here in the frozen foods section, not quite like grandma made, but they'll do.
