think that they can have sex unprotected and not get STDs or get pregnant?

I mean honestly, why do you do it? You can get STDs from oral sex, so why not use protection each and every time? They have female condoms for women so you can perform oral sex and never touch bodily fluids, condoms for guys...I mean come on? Anyone can get the pill so why don't your promiscuous girls go on it? I really want to know why, in this day and age, people are not careful????

I would say kids (here anyway) know all about sex by the time they are 10 years old. There's a reason your parents tell you to abstain, because SH*T happens all the time and you really should listen to them...one day you'll wish you had. That being said I can't believe there would be parents today that wouldn't discuss this subject with their kids. They are living with their heads in the sand, and schools have a responsibility, and teach this stuff starting in grade 4 I believe, which is not too soon. I know is my kids' schools that there are kids who've had sex as early as grade 6...they actually brag about it as if the WORD doesn't spread around to the school and other parents...kids have too much time on their hands if all they think about is sex as teenagers. There's a lot more they should be doing with their lives and it's too bad they aren't shown the way.

PS, I had a friend who not only was on the pill as a minor, she even had an abortion and her parents never knew about it.

The morning after pill is just that. You take it the morning after. It only works for 2 days afterwards and beyond that does nothing. So you can't go taking that every time you have sex. I think women are destroying their bodies and you ask why all these cancers....I bet the majority of women with breast cancer and cervical cancer have been on the pill. I'm willing to bet on it. You can't screw around with hormones without it doing major stuff to your body. You should be worried about STDs...they're practically a death sentence and who will want you with herpes?

Talking of all such things---condoms and pills and 72 hrs pill and so many complicated things that teenager won't even value it ......they at there age are just infatuated with the thought of Love and which they mistake as sex. Giving of themselves to someone completely is what they feel is love or for them sex. It is our fault that we fail to teach them the right things---Bible says ....SEX SHOULD HAPPEN ONLY AFTER MARRIAGE. If he succeed in giving such thought weightage and make our children God fearing and respecting values of the universe. No Cancers or AIDS will ever happen. and world will be a wonderful place to live in.

Not everyone can get the pill.
Minors must have parental consent.

Besides, the pill isn't exactly 100% effective nor does it protect you against STDs. Plus, oral sex while using a condom is so pointless. If you're going to use a condom during that, why do it at all?

People are careful, sh*t just happens. Teenagers aren't educated about proper condom use because parents love to be all over the Board Of Education about their children learning about sex. You can't only teach them abstinence because they won't learn about how to protect themselves. But at the same time you can't teach them about it because you'll only encourage them. There is no winning with them.

Plus, some are just too shy to buy condoms or ask for them from school.

I disagree that it is especially teenagers who don't follow good protection methods. I fully believe that if you don't want a baby, that there are soooo many ways of avoiding that, whether you are a woman or man. I understand that the morning after pill will soon be available over the counter. That will be just one more way of preventing unwanted pregnancies. As far as STD's go, abstinence is the only way to totally be sure about that. People have sex so Early on in their relationships that they are not prepared to guard against STD's, or pregnancies.

It's simple, really. Teenagers will mostly be doing it with other teenagers -- virgins. Why would a virgin have an STD? I mean, there's probably a statistic for how many virgins do have an STD, through their mother's disease or contact with public toilets or something, but I doubt teenagers would think it was big enough to worry about.

It's because they want to descover themselves and figure out who they are...even though they are really stupid when it comes to having safe sex. Parents need to step up and talk about it, not schools
