An initial, or primary, herpes outbreak is usually described as flu-like symptoms, such as fever, headache, and muscle aches. Tingling, burning, itching, and redness at the site where an outbreak is about to occur (prodrome) is also very common, especially in reoccurring outbreaks. There are painful, itchy blisters on the penis, on the vulva, or inside the vagina. Blisters may also appear on the anus, buttocks, thighs, or scrotum, either alone or in clusters. Blisters can break and become shallow, painful, oozing sores. If you want, you can do an image search on Yahoo or Google. It's not the prettiest thing to look at, but at least you will have idea of what they look like.

My first outbreak of genital herpes was so painful my doctor had me on Vicodin. I had to call off work for two days because it was extremely painful to walk and even sit down!

If they don't look like a typical pimple or even an ingrown hair I would suggest you see a doctor. Also, if you are in a lot of pain, see a doctor. They can test you for herpes and give you medication to help control the outbreaks and the severity of the outbreaks. It might be something like a pimple, but it could be something worse like herpes. I would get checked out by a doctor if I were you. Good luck!

first of all, when you say "no lesion", a lesion is any abnormal marking on the skin. this includes blisters, macules, papules, pimples, scabs, and scars. so yes, dear... you had a lesion. also when you describe 3 small pimples... herpes grows in tiny clusters of very small blisters. at first it may be like a pimple, then it fills with fluid, and finally it dries and crusts over.

the symptoms of a herpes outbreak often include fatigue, fever, chills, cold or flu-like symptoms, swollen lymph nodes, and pain, burning, or itching at the site of the lesion. the outbreak may last up to 10 days. if you take a medication like valtrex it can reduce the length of the outbreak to as little as 2 to 3 days.

it is important to note that some people have no symptoms during an outbreak. in fact, most people who spread herpes do not even know that they are infected. it is also astonishing to know that 1 in 5 americans has herpes. it is spread by contact, and condoms do not necessarily prevent transmission because a large area of the bodies that are touching are not covered by the condom. it can also be spread from mouth to genital contact. a person with a cold sore or fever blister can give genital herpes to a partner by performing oral sex.

based on what you have described, it sounds like it may possibly be herpes. if you are unsure go to a doctor. there is a blood test they can do that shows if you have been infected, if you are currently having an outbreak, and even if you are possible just clearing from or just about to have an outbreak.

don't be afraid....
living with herpes is not a death sentence. although there is no cure, with a healthy lifestyle you can limit the frequency and length of outbreaks. but first you need to get to a doctor to see if you even have herpes. you may be worrying for nothing...

Some of the earliest symptoms can include:
An itching or burning sensation
Pain in the legs, buttocks, or genital area
Vaginal discharge
A feeling of pressure or fullness in the abdominal area
A few days following the initial symptoms, sores or lesions erupt at the site of the infection. These sores can occur inside the vagina or on the cervix in women, as well as in the urinary passage in both men and women. Herpes lesions may first appear as small red bumps that develop into blisters which become painful, open sores. After several days these sores become crusted and then heal without scarring.

The first episode of genital herpes can also include symptoms such as: fever, headache, muscle aches ,urinary pain or difficulty ,swollen glands in the groin area.

Just relax and try not to worry. I would go to the doctor and have them check it out. It could be anything....such as razor burn, ingrown hair, pimple, etc. Relax, get to the doctor to relieve your worries.
