That because once he touches that dairy, he sets off an instant reaction through his body. He needs the oxygen because there is a sudden upsurgence on his body's energy, suddenly, he is working harder to breath, his heart is beating faster to get blood moving around, he skin is reacting to the dairy with hives or welts...there is suddenly so much else going on that he is using more oxygen than normal to react...get it?

yeah, i had a cousin who was allergic to anything with milk, eggs, and any chicken that has laid at least one egg. if you drink milk and kiss him, it sets of an allergic reaction. there are people with really bad allergies that it triggers an asthma attack. the 3 year old may or may not need oxygen,but what he needs is a bronchodilator (albuterol)
