I believe peanuts are good for you, and I do not see how you could get fat from eating them.

Eating a small bowl(about 1/4 cup of any kind of nuts) is good for you. If someone is salt-sensitive then try to get the lightly salted or unsalted ones. They are an excellent source of several minerals, and are highly recommended. Don't worry about the cholesterol; the amount of cholesterol we ingest has very little
to do with the amount we actually have in our body, which is produced by the liver. BTW: cholesterol is a good thing- check it out on the web.
An excessive amount of anything high in carbs and protein like peanuts can add weight if consumed to excess, but a nice handful once/day won't make much of a difference. Enjoy!

Peanuts are a legume, like a pea or a bean. Different sources do not all agree, but they seem to be a good source of manganese, tryptophan, vitamin B3 (niacin), folate, copper, fiber, phytonutrients and antioxidants such as Vitamin E and selenium. Peanuts have been linked to beneficial effects as well, such as providing protection against Alzheimer's disease and age-related cognitive decline, prevention of gallstones, reduced risk of stroke. Although not the best source, roasted peanuts are a good source of antioxidants, rivalling the antioxidant content of blackberries and strawberries, and are far richer in antioxidants than apples, carrots or beets. Peanuts are a very good source of monounsaturated fats.
In 2003, the FDA approved the following health claim for 7 kinds of nuts(almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, some pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts): "Scientific evidence suggests but does not prove that eating 1.5 oz per day of most nuts as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease."
They are high in calories, so some moderation is recomended. Crushing them and putting them in salad or replacing dried fruit in cookies are good examples of moderate use. Also, try not to eat too much of the salted variety, combining them with dried fruit is a good way to add taste and include the nutriional value of the dried fruit.
There are some negatives to peanuts, and these inlude sever allergic reactions, those with existing and untreated kidney or gallbladder problems may want to avoid them because of the high level of oxalates. Peanuts are also are susceptible to molds and fungal invasions, much more of an issue in the past, and more of a concern with raw peanuts that roasted.
I've linked a few websites that hopefully will help you further.

Categorize your foods. These are in the fat category. They don't help weight loss. Eat only a small amount as a snack. Other categories are: empty, protein, excess salt, too many ingredients, starchy with vitamins. You can make up your own list. It will help decide what to eat for weight loss. I stopped eating them and lost seven lbs. in a short time. Your body will tell you the truth, or should I say, your scale, tape measure and clothing that fit when you were trim. Rely on those.

Peanuts are high in good fats and cholesterol. It's high in fiber and Doctor's are beginning to recommend a small bowl per day for a heart healthy diet. In fact I have a bowl each day that a Doctor recommended. You may want to opt for the low sodium brand.

Peanuts are good for you. Yes, they are high in cholesterol and fat, but a small bowl each day isn't going to kill you. Nuts are a good protein source and will be good for you! Take a walk or ride your bike. This will help with you fat and cholesterol.

other nuts may be better for you than peanuts ( walnuts, etc) but even even sunshine hurts if you get too much, u know. peanuts and other nuts are great and healthy but i think eating a small bowl everyday is too much.

They're good for you, high in protein. Only bad for you if you have a potental for kidney stones, then you shouldn't eat a whole lot of them.
