I eat about 1200-1500 calories a day. I go for an hour bike ride in the morning and play tennis for two hours at night. I don't know why I'm gaining weight. It's so weird. Help?

Maybe your body thinks it's starving and is slowing down your metabolism in response. Try eating more or cutting back a bit on the cardio. 1200-1500 calories a day is ok for a diet but with all of the cardio on top, you probably aren't getting enough calories to keep you going.

an hour bicycle is about 500 calories spent and 2 hours tennis is about 500 calories too.

Your metabolism is supposed to burn 1200 to 1600 calories a day doing nothing.

Maybe you eat more calories than you think, maybe you snack or you get fooled by misleading labels which quotes a "portion" and not the whole contents.

You should also do weightlifting to gain muscle mass which will help you burn fat.

You should eat more protein and less carbs, try to take more calories from protein instead of carbs.

Take the Atkins diet book out of the library and try that. It stresses the reduction or elimination of carbs. Many people don't know that a lot of veggies are very high in carbs which could be the reason you are gaining weight. I lost 65 pounds in 9 months following the Atkins diet.

you say you exercise regularly and you eat 1200-1500 calories a day so maybe you are gaining weight because your growing.

You may need to eat less calorie dense foods such as veggie burgers and dogs and stick with whole, fresh fruits and veggies. Have you cut out milk, butter and eggs?

sometimes that happens because it could be caused by stress. That was happening to me too and I was working out and eating right and I was still gaining. But I was quilty of not drinking enough water... (Good Luck)!!! Do not give up!!!!
