I have daily vaginal discharge that is white or cloudy. Sometimes its clear. Sometimes its clumpy, other time its more like a thin layer of mucus. It doesn't really smell. I have had this problem for over a year. I am a virgin, and no one has ever been in contact with my vagina. Also, my period is very irregular. I get it once every couple of months. What is wrong with me?

Vaginal discharge can stem from many things, that is why we as women have to be careful with what we ingest into our bodies. It can come from a number of things such as: clothing being to tight especially around the vaginal area, eating too many sweets, eating too much bread, douching with a floral smelling douche, you are only to use a vinegar and water. Using body washes that contain a large amount of perfume, you are not to wash your private parts with regular soap, do not wash your vagina with the sponge use your washcloth, there are also (Betadine) douches available for problems with regular douches. Try not wearing any panties at night while you sleep(even thongs) this allows the vagina to get air you have it covered all day, your vagina needs air. Last but not least do not scratch, I know you feel like you want to but it will only iritate it GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

Vaginal discharge
Overview
Treatment
Definition:
Substances emitted from the vagina can vary in consistency (thick, pasty, thin), color (clear, cloudy), and smell (normal, odorless, bad odor).

Alternative Names:
Discharge from the vagina
Considerations:
Having some amount of vaginal discharge is normal, especially if you are of childbearing age. Glands in the cervix produce a clear mucus. These secretions may turn white or yellow when exposed to the air. These are normal variations.

The amount of mucus produced by the cervical glands varies throughout the menstrual cycle. This is normal and depends on the amount of estrogen circulating in your body.

Vaginal discharge that suddenly differs in color, odor, or consistency, or significantly increases or decreases in amount, may indicate an underlying problem like an infection. If abnormal vaginal discharge is due to a sexually transmitted disease (STD), your sexual partner(s) will likely require treatment as well.

Common Causes:
The following situations can increase the amount of normal vaginal discharge:

Sexual excitement
Emotional stress
Ovulation (when you produce and release an egg from your ovary in the middle of your menstrual cycle)
These conditions can lead to abnormal vaginal discharge:

Vaginal yeast infection -- Technically not an infection, yeast that normally live in the vagina overgrow, causing a cheesy white discharge with redness and itching. Vaginal yeast infections may be related to antibiotics, birth control or other estrogen pills, pregnancy, diabetes, or a weakened immune system.
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) -- Bacteria that normally live in the vagina overgrow, causing a grey discharge and fishy odor that worsen after sexual intercourse. BV is not sexually transmitted.
Trichomonas ("Trich") -- A sexually-transmitted parasite that causes yellowish-grey or green discharge and intense itching.
Other infections and sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia or gonorrhea.
Forgotten tampon or foreign body.
Cervical or vaginal cancer -- rarely a cause of excess discharge

Every woman has a slight amount of discharge from their vagina. It's up to you to figure out what is normal for you.

Usually nothing is wrong unless it's a different color, like a green, yellow, or brown color, if it has a smell or odor to it or it's itchy or irritating. These are all signs of an infection.

If it is really bothering you, you should probably get checked out by a doctor. It could be normal for you, or it could be something like a bacterial infection. Bacterial infections like a yeast infection, urinary tract infection, bacterial vaginosis, and bladder infection can all be treated with antibiotics and will clear up within a week or so. Good luck!

if you are young (under 17) your period will stay irregular because your hormones are still getting the swing of things, but the discharge is normal. does it come in the middle of your cycle. about 10-14 days after your period stopped? but its always good to just talk to a ob/gyn just to get an idea of what is going on. also talk to your mom if you can. or someone else's mom that you can trust. women don't mind answering questions like this. you just have to ask them.
