Mix 2 cups thoroughly cooked chickpeas (garbanzo) beans with the following:
1/4 teaspoon garlic
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
Small dash cayenne pepper
Dash onion powder
Organic sea salt to taste
Sufficient purified water to facilitate a smooth mixture
Place all of the above ingredients and chickpeas into a blender. Blend until smooth. For extra protein, add 1/2 cup tofu to the above and blend. Excellent on Wasa crackers, Ezekiel bread and 7 grain bread. With the tofu added, this mixture will contain all amino acids to make a complete protein for vegetarians and vegans.
For a Middle Eastern hummus:
Add 1/2 teaspoon coriander to mixture.
For a Mexican hummus:
Omit curry powder, include coriander and add 1/4 teaspoon chili powder and 1/8 teaspoon clove powder to make a mixture that tastes like chorizo.

As a base, you take 1/3 cup of tahini and one 15-oz can chickpeas (drained, but reserve the liquid), and put them in a food processor. Add salt and lemon juice to taste, and thin as much as you want with the reserved chickpea liquid.

You can serve it up just like that and it's delicious. Or, you can add a some extra flavorings. A little extra-virgin olive oil mixed in is great. You could also mix in one or more of : a couple cloves of fresh garlic, a whole bunch of roasted garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, chopped chives, chopped parsely, other fresh herbs, cayenne pepper, any other spices you like, tabasco, roasted cracked peppercorns. Just a few ideas. But basically, start with the base and go where your imagination takes you.

chick peas (garbonzo beans)
Tahini
fresh lemon

You can add garlic or any flavor you would like
but making it home made, just plain, tastes great.
Hummus and sprouts go great together.
