Lantus is the greatest thing since sliced bread (although sliced bread is best avoided if you need Lantus :) ). Lantus gives a great stable predictable base coverage. You will, of course, still need other agents, either injectable or by mouth, to ride out the curves of the day & meals.

I like Lantus, but I have to take it twice a day. My doctor says that it doesn't stay in my body for the full 24 hour period. So I take 10 in the morning and 25 at night.

I love lantus! It's helped my blood sugar control alot. Before using that insulin I had alot of issues with low blood sugars in the early morning hours, now I rarely have any low blood sugar problems.
The lantus website has alot of info to give as well.

I LOVE IT!!! It has lowered my blood sugar, super convienant. I take 65 units at night and havenn't had to do any shots during the day since I started.

I used it before I started pumping. It worked pretty well. It's definitely better than the other long acting insulins, like NPH.
