It can, but it can also not. I have a friend who went vegetarian, simply because it made him pay closer attention to what he was eating. You can lose weight NOT being a vegetarian also.

It almost always effects your weight. However, it depends on how much you ration each day. People usually eat 2 to 3 times the normal serving than should actually be consumed per day. Fat itself is not the only cause of obesity. You can overeat without knowing it, even if you are vegan or vegetarian. If you want to lose weight, try portioning your meals. Money will be saved and your waist line will get smaller. Yes, a vegetarian diet can majorly reduce your fat and cholesterol intake. It will not do the job alone, but it can help. It all depends on your diet, whether vegan, vegetarian, or omnivorous.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

It didn't for me! The reverse was true. Meat was blocking my arteries preventing me from gain weight. Doctors couldn't figure out why
I couldn't gain weight. But thanks to the encouragement from my Aunt a 7th day adventist I became a vegetarian and gained alot of weight. I did have to go on a diet after that to lose weight. To become a Vegetarian to lose weight and odd idea! A person usually becomes vegetarian cause they aren't comfortable with the idea of eating animals!

I didn't lose weight after becoming vegetarian. But I wasn't heavy to begin with. I've always been about 110 lbs. I do have a couple of friends who lost weight when they went veggie. So it depends on the person.

You will probably gain a lot of weight if you don't know what you're doing. A lot of people all of a sudden decide they're going to be vegetarian, but then they eat pancakes for breakfast, macaroni and cheese for lunch, and fettuccini alfredo for dinner. You have to cut calories to lose weight. You have to learn to like tofu, exotic vegetables, and meat substitutes.

You can be vegetarian on chips and crisps and chocolate, but you won't lose weight that way!
Learn to love your vegetables though - preferably steamed - and make sure they take up at least half of your plate and you won't go far wrong.
That's providing you don't snack on high-calorie crisps/biscuits/chocolate in between....
Good luck!

No being a vegeterian doesnt help you lose weight. go to the gym, exercise, eat the same food but less, dont eat these -(kebabs, fries, mcdonalds,KFC,any other greasy sh*t cos they delay the process of loosing weight)
if your gona mke such a big sacrifice to be a vege - that dont work. why dont you sacrifice by doing this instead, eat three times a day, but dont eat too much and dont i mean NEVER snack in between.

Gym definatly helps, running and exercising - play lively music (dance and stuff) and run around in your room to boost the energy inside you that helps you wana get phsical or play lively music with headphones - its really cool.

dont sit on chairs all day cos sitting doesnt actually make you loose weight it actually gains you more pounds in your tummy. that why they have gym in a call centre lol.

if you wana loose weight and you dont wana do any of those, good luck to you cos weight loss drinks dont do shyt ;)
hard work but it builds character whether your a woman or man.

I lost about 16 lbs in 12 weeks by counting my calories and eating less beef in my diet. Veggies are good, however if you are stir-frying your veggies in a lot of oil or with gravies, that's not a good thing.

I found out that the best "diet" is the one that lets you eat your familiar food but eating less of a standard portion. For example, I love to eat potato chips, so instead of eating the whole bag, I limit myself to a 1 oz. serving (around 8-10 chips) so that I get the satisfaction of eating chips without the guilt. Instead of eating the whole box of McDonald's fries, I eat about 10 of them and throw the rest away.

I used the site www.caloriescount.com or www.calorieking.com to count my calories and keep track of what I'm eating. I limit myself to about 2000 calories per day and exercise 2-3 times a week. Once you keep tabs on what you're eating, you'll be surprised at how many calories/fat are in ONE Krispy Kreme donut (200 calories and 12g of fat). How many of you eat just one? ;-)

After losing 16 lbs., I feel like I'm a High School kid again.
