they are all varieties of the orange. They are just different varieties in the same way that there are different varieties of cabbage or potato, and have been selected for different things, such as size, sweetness, peel ability.

clementines are a type of tangerine. I don't know what satsumas are (sorry....)

I've always thought that tangerines were created by altering oranges, but I could be wrong on that one.

You must know that tangerines have a different, thicker, skin that isn't as attached to the fruit as the skin of the orange is; and you must know that tangerines are less "strong tasting" and more watery than oranges are.

I believe tangerines may have fewer calories than oranges do. A tangerine has about 35 calories.

Satsuma and clementine are variations of Mandarin orange, a Chinese 'mutant' of regular orange. Mandarin oranges are smaller and seedless and easy to peel. Some Mandarin oranges are sold as 'tangerines' but this is not a biological classification.

And they taste different. And they're different sizes. And oranges come from orange trees, tangerines from tangerine trees, etc.
