There is still a chance that you can become infected. Herpes can lay dormant in nerve tissues, when you are having an outbreak this is when the virus comes to the surface of the skin in the form of bumps, blisters, etc. Even if the person is not having an outbreak or showing symptoms herpes can still be passed along. Sometimes herpes can be transferred simply through close skin to skin contact with an infected area, but you can go to herpes websites for more info. like WebmD.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

I had heard, about 20 yrs ago, that as long as you did'nt have any cold sores the herpes was not infectious. You could go onto a CDC site and see what they have to say about Herpes...or you could go to a doc, that you trust, and ask. Usually, doctors have ready access to the most recent information about medical related topics.
