How can people really be vegetarians?

I know what your saying. Of course you know that they don't eat meat. But I wonder about the same thing. How could someone not eat meat. I mean we have always eaten meat. Obviously, it is good for us!! Vegetarians SUCK!!!!!

Being vegetarian is a lifestyle choice like any other: faith, career, family, place of residence, political affiliation, hobbies, etc.

There is nothing wrong with being a vegetarian, but anyone who makes that decision should educate themselves (although this goes for the meateaters as well) in proper nutritional balance. Nutrients come from many sources, and proper portion sizes, as well as balance and variety, are essential in overall dietary health.

What I object to is when teenagers, as well as college students, become vegetarians or vegans for the wrong reasons, because it's cool and fashionable (because a movie star did it, some popular kids at school did it, a club on campus started the trend, it's straight-edge, it's rebelliousetc). They don't take the time to learn about nutrition and balance, and too often end up with health problems that could have been avoided. It is incidents like these that people focus on as reasons not to be vegetarians.

Every one of us makes choices and decisions every day about what we believe in, what we feel is important and what we're going to do about it. Vegetarianism is simply a part of that decision-making process. I don't believe in eating animal flesh, so I don't... and that is how I really am a vegetarian.
