After all, you "kill" it to eat it. You rip it out of the ground and it stops living. Ditto for other root veggies, such as potatoes and carrots.

If you can use that logic to equate eating plants to eating animals, then I can use the same logic to equate eating you to eating a cow, and come over and have you for dinner. I wouldn't do that, though, because I'm a vegetarian.

Lettuce and other fruits and veggies lack consciousness.

Fruits and veggies do not have brains which allow them to feel pain, fear or love like animals do.

Of course, there are some vegetarian foods that do not require the death of the plant. Take for instance fruits, seeds, and beans.

But, over-all, vegetables are so much less intellectually developed than the creatures of the earth. I believe it is a question of intellectual development.

Fruits, veggies, etc. are on a lower level of consciousness than animals, so they don't feel the same pain when they are "killed" as when an animal is slaughtered. (That's how it was explained to me.)

Vegetables are not breathing animals that have physical and emotional feelings. Animals for slaughter are abused and tortured their entire life before they are slaughtered and served as a "healthy" meal.

IMO vegetarians don't see it that way. I'm not dissing vegetarians ! But, it seems to me that they think eating meat is murder and I don't think that at all. It's all food so, enjoy what you like and let others enjoy what they like.
