I have started using Byetta for PCOS and weight loss, But I cant find any information on how much you HAVE to eat.. I need to lose a lot of weight, therefore I would like to eat as little as possible, however, there does seem to be some data to suggest without a moderately significant meal Byetta cannot do its job.. any ideas??

I know it is not a weight loss drug.. It is being used off-label for PCOS (I used to take Metformin for it) Many type 2 diabetics are also overweight.. I was just wondering if ANYONE has followed any particular diet (or made one up) that was successful and still worked with the meal requirements of Byetta.. It seems most people on Byetta DO lose weight.. if only because the med makes you feel full for so long... the folks that dont lose weight are usually on other medication that contributes to a weight problem... PS I am not a candidate for gastric bypass.. I guess I mispoke when I said a LOT of weight.. It seems like a lot to me!!!!

Having been in your position myself and currently using the byetta pen, let me make this suggestion, look at your calorie intake, consider whether your are very active or not and your age, then look at this website. www.mypyramid.gov it lets you plug in your information and will allow tell you how many calories you need to eat to maintain your weight and how many servings but then you need to go to the For Professional tab ( you don't have to be a professional) look at my pyramid food intake patterns and pick a calorie level lower than the one given to you to maintain weight and you should not only lose weight but also be safe. I hope this helps.

Byetta is not a weight loss drug. Not all Byetta users will lose weight. Since is is not a weight loss drug there has not been any studies done to determine what foods to eat if you want to lose weight.
