Well I don't know what other medications your child is on but I know for a fact that steriods will run your sugar up , My husband is a diabetic and they put him one time on steriods and his sugar went HIGH.. The best thing for you to do is talk with your childs doctor you wouldn't want our opinions unless there's a doctor on here and then again how would you know for sure He was a doctor so please consult your childs doctor , Diabetes isn't something to play around with and you need advice from a professional..

taking steroids would actually do the opposite...make the childs blood sugar go up... (hyperglycemia)...
there are thousand of medications, what medications are they taking and it would be easy to figure out if they are causing the low blood sugar.

Steroids directly make your sugar go up....
What goes up must come down. It could be that his high sugars are simply being overcorrected for and ending up low. Talk to your pediatrician/FP to either adjust the dose, or figure out what else could be going on.

Steroids should have little or no effect to your child's blood sugar. If your child is hypoglycemic, that is genetic or a sign that you have given your child too much insulin, it that case, make sure that you have fruit juices with you.
