Lack of protein causes hair loss. An adult male needs 65 to 70 grams of protein a day and an adult female needs 55 to 60 grams a day. Meat is generally the primary source of protein in the human diet, but it is possible to get sufficient protein in a vegetarian diet. Combining certain foods, such as legumes and grains to make complete proteins is important. One should read up on this or talk with a nutritionist to be sure of optimal protein ingestion.

It all depends on the foods you consume.
If you are on a vegetarian diet, but are still eating plenty of fruits & vegetables, whole grains, and getting protein and all of the important vitamins, then, no your hair will not fall out. Being vegetarian is very healthy for you in the long run, and decreases your chances of certain cancers by 45%.

It depends, do you mean hair falling out from malnutrion? If so then possibly if the diet is not balanced, however the same is possible from a diet with meat so the question is moot. If you mean "male pattern baldness" then quite the opposite is possible, although never proven. Baldness of the aforementioned kind is due to a hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone). This hormone is a normal metabolite of testosterone and present in all humans. However exogenous amounts of testosterone or its pre-cursors may increase the amount of Testosterone in the bloodstream and therefor accelerate the build up of DHT hence exacerbating baldness in men (and sometimes women) that are predisposed to the condition.
Beef farmed cattle meat may contain higher levels of testosterone pre-cursors due to feeding the cattle hormones to increase lean tissue (meat). Ergo, eating meat may cause/contribute/exacerbate baldness.
Again, this is only theory, I can't find a shred of proof on the net and didn't really look to hard...I'm going to bed.

Any diet can be healthy if done right. If a vegetarian/vegan/meat eater/ no carb eater etc does not get proper nutrition then yes, there hair might fall out. Also, if you are asking because your hair IS falling out check with a doctor it could be a Thyroid disorder or something else.

It depends. Veggies can sometimes find it hard to get vitamin B12, about 60% of vegans are estimated to have a deficiency of it at some level. A lack of B12, which can only be got through animal products or supplements, can lead to hair loss.
I would refrain from linking a google answers, but there are a few questions concerning it here: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=227828

It can, your body needs protein, most vegetarians don't get sufficient amounts, your body also requires animal fat. You don't have to believe it, but it is still true. Do yourself a favour..increase your protein intake.. Most vegetarian diets are high in carbohydrates, which is sugar, which is a smorgasbord for bacterial growth in your system as well as other cellular base illnesses... EAT MEAT!

If you are not getting all the nutrients that your body needs, you can lose hair. You can get them, but it's harder with a vegetarian diet.

Not being on a BALANCED diet can. Being a Veggie does not mean you are unhealthy..but you must eat properly. Being a Veggie doesn't mean Mac& Cheese from a box & McD French Fires as meals.
