if you have pneumonia -- you will more likely have a fever, purulent cough, thick sputum (yellow or yellow-green in color), and you will feel like hell. you'd probably not be here on yahoo answers if you have pneumonia.

if you have asthma -- you would know from the beginning. asthma attacks are triggered by allergies... and these are consistent whenever the person is around that allergen.

to determine of you have bronchitis -- tests needs to be done, and also sometimes the patient has a slight fever. if it was chronic bronchitis, the only way to know is to do a pulmonary function test. and the reason why they say "chronic" is because it IS chronic -- it doesn't go away. or if it does, it comes back a couple of times every year.

if you had asthma -- you would know, and you would have been diagnosed when you were still a child. sometimes asthma comes up later on in life, but it will be diagnosed, and you would know if you have asthma because you would have breathing difficulties. as described by patients, "it feels like breathing through a straw" -- that's what asthma is. and asthma will not go away, until you have a nebulizer therapy or if you use an inhaler. it's not a 2-week disease that will go away on its own.

im guessing you have regular allergies -- more likely pollen allergies especially at this time of the year, it's ragweed. i have it also. itchy throat gives it away... i bet your nose itches too. expect your airways to produce secretions when you have allergies - it is an attempt to "wash" the allergens out... and sometimes coughs do stay with you for long periods of time. it took me 3 weeks to get rid of my cough.

i suggest, you speak to your physician to prescribe you some allergy medications. this helps usually.

by going to the dr. they can see inside your lungs and be able to tell you what the real deal is. It is possible to have a little of all three at the same time.

There is one home remedy that i use when i have asthma or chest cold issues. I take a 4th of a red onion, a half cup of sugar and a cup of water and i put it in a pot. I boil it all down until it makes a syrup. Then i take about 2 table spoons of the syrup every 2 hours or so. It will break up the chest congestion and help you cough it out. (you need to cough, it is your body’s way of saying ‘this is not supposed to be here get it out”!!)

You still need to see a dr. to make sure it is not something more serious going on. If you have been coughing that long with no improvement, it could be an infection that if not treated can be dangerous.
Hope you feel better soon

If you are wheezing or if you have chest tightness then its asthma, if it is all congestion and sore throats, then its something else. Asthma will usually only cause bronchospasm and some amount of mucus buildup. The gurgling you hear is the mucus deep down in your lungs. Breathing exercises will help the gurgling, take very deep and slow breaths over and over gain for a few minutes, then cough like you are saying the word "HUFF." Bottom line, see a doctor, because an asthma attack should last 2 weeks.

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

It sounds to me like you have an infection going on. If you have asthma, any type to upper respiratory infections will make it worse. If you have a difficult time breathing when you lay down at night or feel as if you cant take a deep breath, you need to see your Dr as soon as possible.

Go to a Doctor. Gurgling is NEVER something to treat at home. You most likely have pnuemonia.

Great question. I think everybody on Y!A are fed up with these frequent breathers - sometime back it was occasionally but now it is too much or rather three much. Not only Y!A but also the problem with Yahoo E-mail.

Do you have a fever? Are you coughing up anything? Go to the doctor.

Please note that prolonged severe cough may cause inguinal hernia. Lungs may be affected by bacteria, virus, fungus and allergy. Please consult a General physician.
