I used to put a chunk of cheese in the microwave for 1 minute until it was completely melted, then let it cool and set a bit. Had to be eaten on its own and my dad used to go mental cos the plates were a nightmare to clean afterwards.
But I agree Salad cream sandwiches were the business, as was toast dunked in tea!

My son now dunks crisps in tea which is utterly disgusting!

Well I guess the most weird AND revolting thing was that as a very young child, my younger brother and I apparently used to have snail (the garden variety) races on the floor in the summer house and then used to eat the winner! Yuck I hear you cry, quite rightly, but I certainly don't remember it. Just as well. :)

What I DO remember, however, and not only as a child, although I don't eat them now so much, are salad cream sandwiches like you but sometimes mixed with brown sauce. Cheddar cheese and blackcurrant or strawberry jam sandwiches were delish, plus beetroot, cucumber and salad cream sandwiches, mayo with salt and pepper ... well let's say fortunately I had a cast iron stomach. lol.

And I have to say in closing that if the snails don't win as the most weird thing, nothing will! :D

I was about 5 or 6, I liked to make my chocolate ice-cream sandwich, I spooned a thick layer of chocolate ice-cream on white bread and ate it quickly when my mom was not at home or my grandpa/aunt wasn't in the kitchen. They usually found the mess (chocolate ice-cream melted and drop on the chair / floor / my clothes) when I almost finished eating.

My mum was (and still is) the worlds WORST cook. Until I left home in my teens, I genuinely did not know that gravy and custard were meant to be SMOOTH. I honestly thought they were supposed to have heavy powdery lumps in them! But, the worst thing I used to eat (as I was forced to) was HOT WEETABIX with SUGAR. Mum would boil up the milk til it was red hot then smother the weetabix in sugar and pour the milk over it. Then, leave it to cool down - which had the result of making it one large conjealed lump pf what looked, smelt and tasted like.. well... vomit!

I shudder to think about it even now...

*bleurgh*

I was trying to make everyone at my lunch table sick by saying that I liked mustard on apples. Then they made me eat it to prove it. It turned out to be really good! There was something about the tartness and sweetness of a granny smith combined with the vinegar in the mustard. But it had to be French's mustard. It didn't taste the same with mustards that are more pungent.

Let's see ... Dog biscuits, raw sausages, the little bones from the rashers of bacon in my dad's fried breakfast .... probably the worst thing I ate was a slice of bread spread with mud (I was pretending it was chocolate spread like I'd seen on tv adverts but which I'd never eaten in real life).
