Diabetes is a condition where your body does not process sugars well. Sugar (carbohydrates) is found in everything we eat, unless it is labeled sugar free. A diabetic diet is one that balances calories, exercise, and medication with blood glucose levels. There is no official diabetic diet. Watch refined sugars, such as those found in soda, ice cream, and many cereals. Increase the amount of fresh fruits and veggies. Fresh fruits/veggies are one of the best types of natural sugars you can eat. But enjoy in moderation since they do contain sugars. People with diabetes should eat foods that contain carbohydrates from whole grains, nuts, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat milk. You can visit a registered dietician for help counting your carbs, since counting and monitoring how many grams of carbs you eat every day will help reduce your glucose levels in your blood stream. People with diabetes should monitor their intake of concentrated sources of carbohydrates (sugars) such as table sugar, honey, jelly, jam, molasses, syrup, corn syrup, candy, regular soft drinks, pies, doughnuts, cookies, pastries, regular chewing gum, and sweet pickles, sweetened fruits, juices and fruit drinks. Limit your alcohol intake also. Check out this webpage http://www.diabeteslibrary.org/news/news_search.cfm?searchem=diabetic+menu for some good diabetic meal recipes that are quite tasty (if i do say so myself, my stepdad has diabetes and ive tried a few of these recipes)

Get the book I recommend below and bookmark the links I provide...

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...

I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:

The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:

For men: Are you suffering from erectile dysfunction? I was. Yes, WAS. Now that everything's under control, I'm able to have nearly normal sex again. I've also put together a little webpage highlighting some of the things I've learned here:

1800 to 2000 calories a day is good if your average build.Avoid foods w/ refined sugar. Anything w/ sucrose, fructose or corn syrup. No candy or soda that isn't diet,Limit carbohydrates because they break down to sugars quickly.Eat a lot of vegetables, salads and 1 piece of fresh fruit w/ each meal. Eat in moderation as well. Your better off eating 4 small meals a day as opposed to 3 large ones. And drink a lot of water. It is important for diabetics to stay hydrated.

Cheers.

Do not eat simple carbs. Do not eat white bread, candy, basically things with a lot of sugar.
Eat protein, whole wheat, brown rice, vegetables. You have to be careful with fruits, though. You can eat a banana.

Eat lots of green veggies, lean meat and fish, whole grains, dairy;oatmeal and beans,or any type of fiber helps lower blood sugar;also try taking a teaspoonful of cinnamon daily as it helps to balance the blood sugar.Stay away from processed foods, white foods;potatoes, white rice, sugar of course.Eat only whole grain bread and cereals and a little fruit is okay, but not too much. And get lots of exercise;it helps to keep your blood sugar down as well.Good luck.
