Im not no doctor, or genius about STD's but I found over a year ago that I have an STD, My ex boyfriend and I were having unprotected sex, and I know...how stupid...right...but at that time I trusted him, he was tested for HIV, but they should of tested him for everthing right! Anyways, Im on DEPO and at the time I trusted him and I know for a fact I caught it from him. Just a few weeks ago I had to get pap test...it was abnormal...I was worried.. but my question is...what are the chances of me having HPV..since I already have an STD and thats why I think my pap was abnormal, im just waiting for a phone call from the doc's, but if so, I know it's from my ex...I tell him right, if that's the case

Honeslty your chances are very good that you may have contracted HPV since it was unprotected and you already have another STD which makes it easier for you to catch another one. HPV is one of the most common STDs out there.

They can only test him for the STDs he asks to be tested for. There actually is no test for HPV for men, so even if he wanted to be tested for that, he couldn't.

HPV is a tricky STD. I've read 75-80% of the world has it and only about 20some% know they have it. A person can have HPV for years and not realize it. Since there really are no signs or symptoms and it can take months or even years to show any physical syptoms most people don't know they have it and end up spreading it around. Some people never develop physical symptoms. Males usually find out they have HPV by developing genital warts or by finding out their girlfriend of wife has contracted it.

Just because you have had an abnormal pap doesn't necessarily mean that it is HPV related. HPV can cause pap smears to come back abnormal though, even when there is nothing really wrong. I have personally had two abnormal paps within the last 5 years. The first one came back pre-cancerous which turned into cancer and the second one was nothing. I got cervical cancer from my HPV when I was 17 years old! Cervical cancer kills 4,000 women a year; it's the second most common cancer in women, after breast cancer. It's a good thing you got a pap smear, it's the best thing a woman can do to detect any early signs of abnormal growth on the cervix.

Wait until you get your results back to see what's really going on. It might be nothing, or it could be something like HPV. Stay on top of your health and get your annual pap smears and everything should be okay. Good luck to you! Feel free to email me if you'd like.

If you know that you have something you should tell him. Like you said he had an HIV test but he should have had more testing. Once you know what you have, if anything then he can discuss it with his doctor to see how it affects him. Good luck and remember to practice safe sex in the future so you don't have to go through this again.

I would tell him since he may not know that he too may have the STD and could continue to spread the disease to many other potential partners. He may not take the news well but it is better that he finds out before the disease gets worse or he gets complications. The truth is always better then not saying anything.

yes, you should tell him if in fact its true, which i hope not! you should tell him so he can get treated and so he can tell the others he possibly infected. its only his conscience to get treated or not or to tell his previos partners. you will have did your part. in the meantime, leave him alone. stds have serious health complications in the long run and some stds are silent. and his health care provider will test him for waht he asked to be tested for. good luck
