Im not no doctor, or genius about STD's but I found over a year ago that I have an STD, My ex boyfriend and I were having unprotected sex, and I know...how stupid...right...but at that time I trusted him, he was tested for HIV, but they should of tested him for everthing right! Anyways, Im on DEPO and at the time I trusted him and I know for a fact I caught it from him. Just a few weeks ago I had to get pap test...it was abnormal...I was worried.. but my question is...what are the chances of me having HPV..since I already have an STD and thats why I think my pap was abnormal, im just waiting for a phone call from the doc's, but if so, I know it's from my ex...I tell him right, if that's the case

Abnormal pap smears are not always caused by HPV. Even someone who has HPV can have an abnormal pap come back and when the doctor does a colposcopy (examination of the cervix under a microscope) they find nothing.

I have personally had two abnormal paps within the last 5 years. The first one came back pre-cancerous cells which eventually turned into cervical cancer, when I was 17 years old. The second one, about a year and 1/2 later turned out to be absolutely nothing.

Chances of you contracting HPV are increased if you have another STD already. I would wait until the doctor calls you back before you really start worrying about anything. Good luck to you!

An abnormal PAP indicates that you have HPV virus activity, causing abnormal cell growth on your cervix. It is not an indicator of any other sort of STD. If you THINK there's a possibility of having anything else (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, etc), then you should be screened by your gyno. AND you should definitely have a follow-up on the abnormal PAP.
