I agree with "Wondering". From a personal experience, I suggest you be very careful with the use of antibiotics, because their excessive use can cause damage, particularly to the kidneys!

I think you are talking about the bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa (sp?). It actually is a bacteria that is all over the place, but hospitals tend to have a type of the bacteria that is very resistant to antibiotics. This makes Pseudomonas difficult to treat. Sometimes, patients who have been in the hospital for a while may get a lung or wound infection with a strain of Pseudomonas that is resistant to all but a couple of antibiotics.

pseudomonis is a organism usually seen in a water type environment. You usually see it in sink drains, humidifiers ect. It is very resilient, there is information of it growing in fuel barrels in WWII. In humans is it usually in the respiratory system, but can be systemic. Wide spread in the blood and body. It take an antibiotics that the organism is sensitive to for treatment.

Cipro and related antibiotics are very effective against pseudomonas, if you can take them. I would not consider the use of Cipro inappropriate use of antibiotics if someone had a clinical infection with pseudomonas.

it's found in public baths..it usually starts with a skin rash. don't use public whirlpools..
