Could someone get oral herpes from sharing a drink or kissing? How about receiving oral sex from someone who is infected with oral herpes?

Herpes is very easily passed to other people.

Cold sores are usually passed to others by being kissed by someone who has them. Sharing drinks, chap stick, lip stick, even cigarettes with someone who has cold sores can cause that person to get them.

Genital herpes is usually spread by sex, but it can be spread by oral sex too. In fact, I've read 30% of people with genital herpes got it from cold sores (like oral sex). Genital herpes can also be passed to someone else even when no sores are present. According to Valtrex, 70% of people with genital herpes got it from their partner when they were showing no signs or symptoms of the virus, like sores.

Herpes simplex virus 1 is typically cold sores while herpes simplex virus 2 is typically genital herpes. I say "typically" because both herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 can cause both genital herpes and cold sores.

I have personally had genital herpes for over 5 years. I got it from a guy I had slept with ONE time. He wasn't showing any signs of the virus. My fiance (boyfriend at the time) got it from me about 8 months ago. I haven't had an outbreak in almost 2 years, and he still got it. Herpes is a very easily transmitted STD.

Cold sores are not as serious as genital herpes but they are very contagious while they are active. They are also common to have and your stats are about right, even children can get them before they are sexually active. You could have gotten it from kissing some one recently or from a long time ago by the same way. Herpes of any type can lie dormant in the body for months or even years after contracting it. Close contact is kissing you can also get it from sharing things like chap stick, cigarettes, and sharing drinks. You don't have to have sex to get cold sores. Just stay away from oral sex when you have or think your getting an out break. They can be passed to the genitals (that happened to me so it's possible). The rest of the time you are less contagious and only have a small chance of passing cold sores on. But you should let future partners know that you have cold sores. It can only take one time kissing some one to get cold sores. You won't be sexually challenged for the rest of your life but there are people out there who will reject you just because you have cold sores. Just take things slowly and inform your partners, you don't have to have sex right away when you find some one you like. People make mistakes all the time, your going to have to take some responsibility in the future to protect other people from getting it. I have cold sores too.

There are two main types of herpes. Herpes simplex type1 and type 2. Type 1 is usually associated with the mouth, type 2 with the genital area. Learn here how to cure it: https://tr.im/FGfBM After contracting either type, your body will produce antibodies after six weeks that will stop you from reinfecting yourself, or someone else re-infecting you. So, if you get type 1 of the mouth, during that six weeks, you can re-infect youself while shaving. Or, if you have an outbreak and touch a sore, if you touch somewhere else on your body, such as your genitals, you will contract, genital herpes, type 1. You can also get oral herpes type 2, in addition to type 1, if you perform oral sex on someon with genital herpes type two. Condoms will not completely protect you from the disease since parts of the body not covered by the condom can rub against the infected individual. Plus, if they are not having an outbreak, you do not know where the infected spots are located on their body. Herpes is a skin-to-skin transmission type disease. Though it is skin-to skin, it can be transmitted by skin-surface-skin contact. For example, sharing a drinking glass or towel. Herpes, type 1 and 2, can be passed on to others at any time, whether the infected person is having an outbreak or not. There is no cure, just antiviral medication to help treat/prevent outbreaks. https://tr.im/FGfBM

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

You better believe it friend. I was a victim from my ex-wife. She would have an out break about three times per year. Fever blisters like you would not believe. I would imagiane type 1 herpes. I would break out in "genitial' herpes about four times a year. It would take about seven too ten days for the blisters to clear up. I got a druggist to give me some powdered neosporin, prescription only, and that seemed to help cure the blisters. We never discussed herpes, but I have been divorced from her since 1985 and I have had only one outbreak since that time. I
still have the virus.

I got diagnosed with herpes approximately 5 years back, when I was still in college and had a spupid one night affair. I know many of girls will say this but believe me I never did that sort of thing. I just made a mistake that one time and, suddenly, it seemed like I was going to have to live with the problem for the rest of my life. The worst part was thinking I would never date guys again. After all, who wants to date a person who has sores around her you-know-what? But after somebody share this video https://tr.im/EGHhm everything has changed. Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my body in less than 20 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met my soulmate and I'm so blessed to say that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This program gave me the chance to be happy again, and to experience true love.
