Sorry, I have to ask a question just to get rid of that stupid questions that does not belong in this section.....
Some veggies do not wear leather ( eg) because it is sourced from animals. Many would also not wear a leather coat if they found it, so that wouldn't even have a direct impact on the death of the animal, but for ethical reasons they don't wear it
So, my predicament.....
Is is OK for a vegetarian to drive a car because petrol is made from dead animals ?
Just because the animal died many years ago, does that make it OK ?

. . . it's probably okay as long as it's a gas conversion and they're not wearing a leather coat they'd found and eating a Big Mac . . .

Yes, of course it is. Only a tiny proportion of your petrol will be from dead animals and a huge amount from vegetable matter. Most of the animal will have been consumed by bacteria and other animals and the skeleton contains insufficient carbon to make a difference. However, you might want to ask whether driving your car, which releases over 300 toxins into the air, many of them heavier than air and therefore affect children more, is an essential activity.

Oil comes from animals AND vegetation that left this plane millions of years ago. How far do you want to take this petrol thing?
Carrots and potatoes have a 'skin' on them that is peeled off, right? I have a vegan friend that has a 'carrot potato leather' vest. It looks really nice and she'll never go hungry! The only problem with it is that when it rains it keeps sprouting green tops!

people who are vegetarians are not necessarily animal rights activists. I would like to hear an animal rights activist answer just where the line should be drawn though. good question I mean the pollution they cause can hurt the poor butterflies too. do they wear clothes made of silk? shoes with non man made materials? Even God made clothes for Adam and Eve by killing a poor innocent goat or sheep and fashioning clothes for them.

All I can tell you is that I just don't eat meat. I would wear a leather coat, I would drive a car with leather seats and I would wear leather shoes. This is a good question and I will do research to see if animals are treated cruely in order for us to wear their skin. If so, I'll change my ways....

Oil isn't from factory farmed animals, it is mostly from ocean sediment formed from near microscopic "animals".
You can't group "vegetarian" motives into one definition. People avoid eating flesh for many, many reasons.

good question!!!!!
i would gather that if a vegan we're a die hard vegan, they would not drive a car! but that's okay if you work close enough so that you could walk to work! (just another reason to be just as healthy!)
however, we are trying to utilize our brains when it comes to fuel...soon we won't even know what fuel is....we will run our cars on corn/soy or whatever else they are trying to come up with!

well it wasnt killed to make petrol, it died naturally.
it would be different if people were killing thousands of animals and then just burying them in the ground and leaving them for a few thousand yeas to turn into petrol.

i think if the animal died from natural causes it would be fine, but the fact people kill animals for meat etc is horrible and cruel
