A big glass bowl of oranges and plums in the entry way will really set the mood for your event. And don't forget about little goodie-bags in orange and purple for your guests as they leave. Many candy stores now allow you to get m&m's in colors of your choice, and they have a lot more colors then what comes in a bag of m&m's too; get purple and orange ones for your candy dishes. Have fun!

I also like the bowl of oranges and plums, but I also have some great recipes that combine purple/orange. For example, prawns take on a lovely orange hue when flavored with Japanese red pepper- then serve with purple coconut sticky rice and a green curry cream sauce on the base of the plate! Beautiful AND yummy. Eggplant is wonderful when grilled, topped with a golden (or orange) fresh marinara and finished with mozzarella and lightly broiled. Big pitchers of iced red (which is actually rather purple) sangria with cinnamon sticks and sliced wheels of fresh oranges are another great way to combine purple and orange. I know someone who just had a purple/orange themed wedding. It was wonderful, whimsical, and the wedding pictures were MUCH more fun and colorful than your traditional black and white.

For side dishes you can serve some purple potatoes, mashed yams, carrots, eggplant, etc. A fruit & veggie tray of oranges, cantaloupe, peaches and papaya, carrots with ranch dip (made purple with the help of food coloring). Other purple foods are blueberries, blackberries, plums, cabbage, grapes...
For dessert, an orage flavored cake with cream cheese icing dyed purple. Decorate it with purple flowers (edible, if you can find them).
If finding purple food becomes difficult, you might want to serve all/mostly yellow foods and have your plates, silverware and decor all purple. Whatever you decide, I hope you have fun!

you could use food coluring on your food and make it into the colour of your choice!
1. for party ideas you could arrange a murder mystery thing which is always a hit and great fun!
2. you could also play a game where you get everyone to stand or sit in a circle and they put a card against their mouth and suck then try to pass it to the person next to them without making it fall off!
3. or for a game that is equally fun but also good for children you can put a bar of chocolate in the freezer then wen u are ready to play take it out place it on a table in the middle of the room with a hat, scarf, gloves and a coat, and the person who rolls a 6 on the dice has to go in the middle and try to cut the chocolate with the knife and they have the amount of time to do it until the next person rolls a six and they take over!
hope the party is a success! good luck with the food!

I would serve the gourmet blue corn chips (which really look purple) with a dip made of cream cheese and salsa (which will end up looking orange).
I would make orange glazed chicken (pour a bottle of Russian dressing, jar of orange marmalade and a package of onion soup mix over chicken breasts and bake for one hour at 350) serve over rice - this will be bright orange in color.
You could serve a Jello salad made with orange jello, crushed pineapple, shredded carrots -it's basically a salad/
Serve Fuzzy Navels with orange slices with purple swizzle sticks (paint bamboo skewers yourself).
Serve a fruit and cheese board - made up of purple seedless grapes, oranges, plums, apricots, peaches and sharp Cheddar cheese (which is bright orange in color)
For dessert - round two layer cake (probably orange supreme cake mix) - and frost it with a purple and orange Ying/Yang symbol.
Decorations: Layer orange and purple paper napkins. You can buy the plastic glasses in purple or orange.

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Therefore as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
