ent -doctors to implant a temporary larynx voice box to help her with her lungs and when she gets better they can take it out. she is ventilator dependent and they need to trach her. she has sepsis. will it be a big hole? how long will she do this? will the hole grow back up? they said they would get smaller and smaller voice boxes? please help me-how long will she be doing this?

a voice box will not help improve her lung status. If she is vent dependent, they will more than likely give her a trach, with is a hole in the windpipe below the voice box, so she wont be able to talk anyway. she will keep the trach as long as she needs to use the vent, whether it be days or years. besides, i have never heard of implanting a voice box.

In time the hole will fill in but don't focas on the hole. get down on your knees and thank the good lord that you mom is still here. make every minute with her count and spend them with her she will be bothered enough by the hole with out knowing that it bothers you your mom needs your love and support now most of all . if you love her give it to her while you still can

I don't know about this but I feel you need all my warm fuzzies so here they come. Talk to the doctors about anything you want to know. It's part of their job to tell you.
