Tacos and tortilla dishes are unique to Mexico, Salvador, Guatamela, Central American dishes. Puerto Ricans, South Americans, Panamanians don't use tortillas.
I have a great dish, I love called Boliche from Cuba. Cuban food is great, Spanish inspired as you would think.
As far as the Boliche goes, buy 1.5 to 2 pounds of round steak. Cut it in 1-1.5 inch slices. Boil them in water, simmer or soft boil for 2 hours. Cook with black pepper, seasoned salt, garlic powder. Include onion, red, green pepper, celery.
Then take out and drain water. Squish the veggies over the meat and bake 325 degrees for 2 hours.Remove meat and veggies.
Make a sauce with tomatoe sauce, garlic. Include the veggies from the meat and serve over meat. You probably won't even need a knife. Serve with white rice or potatoes. Make sure you also make some black beans to pour over rice. Awesome!
