RICE is much BETTER than FRIED FOODS. Most OBESE people likes to EAT fried foods. BREADED fried foods especially and it is full of SATURATED FATS. Most people who DON'T EAT much RICE are, "THE FATTEST PEOPLE IN AMERICA !".

Because rice is a better fit for our overall diets.
It used to be a great source of complex carbs - not it is more of a cultural thing.
Also, rice is eaten every day by 3-4 billion people.

For the same reason YOU eat so much bread and potatoes ....

It's just the way the culture develops, your culture found a good food source by grinding wheat and other grains and making them into bread, and once the humble potato was introduced it was a convenient way to fill the bellies of poor and rich alike (especially the poor.)

Asian cultures found a good food source by flooding fields with rice growing in them ... and also by grinding buckwheat and other grains and making noodles from them..!
