I found it almost impossible to be vegan unless I ate no processed foods at all. If you look at those websites, you'll notice there is a very short list of truly vegan foods. Even foods labeled "vegetarian" are not always entirely meat free, depending on your definition of meat. For instance, Worcester Sauce has anchovy paste in it. Is a little anchovy fish considered meat? For a vegan it is so no Worcester sauce for you.
But if you want to give it a try, attached is a link to a food guide. Like the food pyramid for no-vegetarians, it lists they types and percentages of foods you need to eat to stay healthy with this lifestyle.
Also, this link (if you can get past all of the horrible images of tortured cows, chickens, etc.) has lots of vegan recipes, how to get started and you can send away for a free starter guide to help you with journey.

Best of luck to you.

Seems that your own personal garden is a 'must' to assure that your food is pesticide free, organic & uncontaminated by the vast number of meateatters!
To elaborate on my personal 'tips' ~
Stay out of
Hogsbreath,
BurgerKing,
Hungry Jacks,
McDonalds,
Red Rooster,
Red Lobster,
Olive Garden,
TGI Fridays,
Jack-in-the-Box,
supermarkets,
shopping malls,
towns,
cities
& just expect to find 80-95% no shows at your diner parties to avoid disappointment.
To combat the loneliness, you may want to establish a frantic search for other vegans in your area for support & assurance that you won't shrivile up & blow away.

Not really. I have tried to be a vegan at verious times and it is just too difficult. You have to be so militant and you can't have eggs, butter, fish or honey, never mind meat.
But if you are serious about it there are several web sights that promote a vegan lifestyle, just type 'Vegan' into your search engine.

Go to PETA and watch their awefull heart breaking videos when you're craving an animal. I onl had to do that a time or two when I first started.
Buy substitutes. Cheese subs, burger subs. Always makes it easier for meals.

make sure you have nondairy sources of calcium and get enough protein in your diet. Broccoli is a good source of calcium with 1000 mg for 2.5 cups.Collard greens are a good source too. For protein: nuts, legumes, beans, almond or peanut butter edamame; whole grains like couscos, brown rice, quinoa flakes, whole wheat bread.

keep something around to remind you of why you are being a vegan. for example: a picture of cows at a slaughterhouse. it would be disturbing, but it would keep you being a vegan.
