I was vegan for 10 years. I didn't eat anything that came from an animal at all. No meat, no eggs, no milk, no honey, nothing. I also didn't wear any wool, leather, etc, and did not use any animal glue or anything like that. There's lots of great food to eat and lots of hidden animal products to watch out for in places you wouldn't expect like beers and wines, etc. If you are thinking of vegan ism, good for you.

Beans, grains, fruits, veggies, nuts, tofu and some soya products and anything else that contains no animal products. There are a thousand things to do with pasta, rices, veggies and alot of sauces and seasonings that are vegan friendly.

Lots of veg, fruit, nuts, seeds, grains, rice, pasta, soya .... Lots of food that meat-eaters eat can be adapted for vegans, eg, Shepherd's pie, spag bol, curry, veggie-burgers, sausage & mash, roast dinner, lasagne. It's easy when you're used to it. there's lots more convenience foods for vegans nowadays too - vegan cheeses, yoghurts, burgers, ice-cream, milks, creams etc. and there's loads of vegan cookery-books with puddings and cakes in that taste as good as non-vegan stuff, in fact better in my opinion, as they don't have that horrible rancid fatty taste of dairy products.

Personally, I avoid meat and other animal products because of a)health reasons b)environmental reasons and c)food capacity reasons. The animal rights people are free to their opinions but I find they are kind of annoying.

Vegetarians can often get preachy about their diets- about how they're dedicated enough and so on but meat eaters also like to show off their decisions. If you tell an omni casually they you don't eat meat, often you'll get a response like "Oh I love eating cow, nice and bloody" when really I don't give a damn.
