My husband eats meat, I am a vegetarian.
He sometimes cooks meat or brings meat based food home to eat.
I have tried to discuss this issue with him and he is as ignorant as other meat eaters who post here.
The smell of meat makes me physically ill. Has anyone had this problem?
What can I do?

Guess I need diplomatic ideas to convert him basically, he is stubborn and refuses to see the ethical and health issues involved.

I don't think anyone on this site is a cannibal, and neither is your husband. Eat what you want and let your husband eat what he wants. Are you sure your children are getting enough protein in their diets for proper growth? If the smell of meat makes you ill, ask your husband to set out a small bowl of vinegar when he is cooking meat. Then you can go to another room. The vinegar will take the odor out of the kitchen. You might want to see a therapist about this problem about being ill smelling meat. I hope this helps.

I am a meat eater. I am not ignorant. I have entertained the idea of going vegan and have discussed it with my husband. But, if doing so will make me as selfish as you are, my way or no way, I will stay right where I am. Thank you for shedding light on my decision. I would hate to have my house in an uproar over a burger.

you should work your vegetarian cooking. once you find the right style for him, he'll get used to vegetarian food and even eat less meat out. that's my experiance with my ex

Men like meat. You knew your husband ate meat before you married him. It says in the Bible we are suppose to eat meat....so it is not ignorant! And you shouldn't throw that word out like that, you should give people the respect that you would want. I don't like the smell of beef, but I just deal with it. There are some things in life you just have to deal with. He is your husband, and there are something you are going to have to deal with. At least he is not expecting you to make the meat for him. And I don't think people on her are cannibal on here either....watch what you say.

Definition of Cannibal: a person who eats human flesh, esp. for magical or religious purposes, as among certain tribal peoples.
2. any animal that eats its own kind.

I am a vegetarian but I don't get peeved when my friends eat meat in front of me. I think basically you have a psychological problem and it is something you have to overcome yourself with help if not you never gonna function like a normal person in the real world. Family gatherings, business parties, etc will always be a problem with your presence as other people will troubled by your reactions.

i think you are being very selfish. if he wants to eat meat, let him. its normal and human, humans are omnivores, you might as well try to convince a lion to eat tofu. you eat what you like, but don't force your beliefs on others.
if it really bothers you that much, just ask him not to cook or eat it in your presence. there is nothing unhealthy about meat if eaten in moderation, it is a fantastic source of high grade protein and iron.

If you knew he was a meat eater when you married him.....you should accept his wishes and let him eat what he wants........He doesn't try to force you to eat it does he? Why now are you trying to change him? You eat what you want and let him eat what he wants.
