The opinions of ages for rice cereal vary no matter what doctor or other mother you speak to. Alot of pediatricians still say 4 months is fine to start cereal. Cereal in the bottle is recommended alot for babies with reflux as it thickens the formula so they don't spit up as much or at all. If they told you it is okay to do them by all means follow the instructions of your doctors office even if only a nurse a nurse will tell you what the doctor would in these situations. As far as the Karo I would only do it in one bottle a day or like others said try prune juice, one ounce juice to one ounce of water or you can do the same with apple juice. You know your child best being his mother so just do what you feel is best :)
