i've been a vegetarian for almost a year, and don't eat eggs much (usually only in like breads or cakes) and i always try to get organic milk products. I want to become a vegan, but i'm not sure if i can and if i do, what i can eat. I run a lot so i do need sometype of vitamins or something, but i rufuse to take any vitamins except some made from honey and i refuse to take any tylenol or medicines, i don't know why, but i have a feeling i should... any tips on turning vegan?

also, i heard that after a year of becoming vegan, you can become very sick... I won't eat meat, no matter what anyone says, all those animals lives are worth more than perfect health... but what are your opinions on that?
and, what is a good vitamin, that harms no animals in the making?

The first thing I always tell people when they are switching to a life of vegan-ism is, 'Go to a dietitian and ask all these questions to a professional.'

I live the lifestyle you say you are trying to live yourself. I do not take vitamins and I am a very strict vegan when it comes to my food, clothing I wear, and my lifestyle I lead outside of my kitchen. Please do not let people telling you, 'You will be ill!!' get to you. I have been a veggie/vegan for 5 years solid now and 'magically' I have only been ill TWICE in that 5 years, and it just so happens that one of those times was food poisoning from a chef not cleaning his knives after dealing with raw meat! I think this is a great feat considering I went from age 20-25 with a veggie/vegan lifestyle and this was through the most active years of my life.

Vegan is a very healthy lifestyle indeed if you be sure to get all that your body needs from a variety of foods, I will not go through them all with you because I am sure you have had people preaching you enough. I have listed some great Vegan sites for you to check out on your new chosen lifestyle. The last website is a vitamin supplement company that only deals with Vegan supplements!

Do you have any organic health food stores in your area? They might have some vegan options.

I just started being vegetarian a couple weeks ago (would be vegan except for cheese) and I have been using agave instead of honey and soy milk instead of regular milk. Not really eating eggs. No meat, of coarse. I just eat a lot of veggies, fruits, beans, nuts, tubers (like sweet potatoes) and grains.

I know many strict vegans, and none of them seem unhealthy to me. So I say go for it :)

Don't go vegan. It's very unhealthy for you. You need Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Calcium, minerals like copper and heme iron. And you need healthy fats so your body will absorb the vitamins and minerals like butter, coconut oil, lard, cod liver oil and olive oil.

Drinking whole raw milk is best. Click here to find sources.

if you have decided to turn vegan be aware that vitamin b 12 cannot be found in a vegan diet as b 12 is only made by animals and not found in vegetables.
either take b12 shots or drink fortified b12 so ya milk.
that is what i do i drink soy milk fortified by b12

go to animal rights.com or www.vegconnect.com

I dont eat eggs and leave them out of baking products,of course its not as fluffy, but you can use applesauce, honey,
I think whatever choice you make has to be your own.
I eat alot of dark veggies, beans for protein, soy, rosehips & rosetea (aquired taste),flax seed, ginger, gensing, some people eat garlic,
For additional vitamins you can eat mangos, grapefruit, kiwi, durian, papaya, spinach etc

if you become vegan, are you still going to use leather products...are you doing this for a way of life if so congradulations.

Good luck on your search and great question
