Most vegetarians, like myself, do not hate the taste of meat, rather the way the animals are raised and slaughtered. Furthermore, most come to the moral decision to give up meat after having eaten it their whole lives up until that point. Kinda hard to just give up all your favorite foods, so veggie substitutes make a nice transition. Besides, who says burgers, hot dogs, etc. HAVE to be made exclusively out of meat? Over the centuries these things have been made out of several different substances. Sausages were traditionally just pork, but now they are made out of beef, chicken, turkey, whatever. Same with burgers starting out as beef and being changed over the years. So why is it such a big deal to make them out of vegetables? It's just a new way of eating your veggies.

Typically meat subsitutes contain high protein levels that Veggans often lack with an all vegtable diet. It also offers options to them for serving guest and completing recipes that are meat orientated without having to ingest a product they do not wish to eat.
Think of it as no different then drinking soy milk because your lactose intolerant but really want to have a milkshake. Soymilk gives you the chance to make that milkshake with Soy based icecream and not get sick.
Granted most veggans chose to not eat meat but some actually have metabolic disorders that limit or force them to be meat free as well.

Vegetarians don't hate meat. They just decide not to eat it. Many for a healthier life and others because of the animals or both.
The reason I don't eat meat is both. I believe that my life without meat has been healthier than ever and that animals shouldn't be slaughtered. Plus I do not want to eat an animal that was fed with chemicals to grow larger...it just doesn't sound healthy at all.

THose meat substitutes don't really taste like the meat. It has the smell, which people who become vegetarian (for the purpose of health or loving animals) may eat and enjoy w/o the killing or the unhealthiness.

Those foods are meant as an additional option; variety is the spice of life, right? I stopped eating meat because I consider the slaughter of animals for my nourishment to be completely unnecessary. The slaughter of soybeans to make a Boca burger doesn't quite weigh on my conscience the same way.

I do hate meat, but when my husband eats a hamburger i just fix myself a veggie burger. It doesn't imitate meat its just in the shape of a burger or patty. It does say veggie patty. Its also a substitute with lots of protein in it like meat has. Vegan need to increase protein in their bodies. Also the name irritates my son when i say veggie chicken---he likes meat.

Maybe they don't hate meat so much.?Maybe you are projecting your feelings upon them?
There are plenty of reasons for being vegetarian. Some do it because they don't like the thought of killing animals for food. Some do it because they think there are health benefits. Some do it because they've found that *their* body doesn't react well to meat. Some do it because it's trendy. And maybe there are a few who do it because they heat meat, but I really doubt there are many...

god aren't you small minded. some of us actually have morals and thats why we don't eat meat! i did and i loved the taste of meat but finding out how they were killed and the fact that on average every person who eats meat will (after taking all of the bad bits out) end up eating 95 animals per year. i couldn't stand in a field with 95 animals in it and then go to a burger bar.

I like meat, I miss eating meat. I just don't want something to be tortured/die at the expense of my cravings.
I eat fake meat because I still like the taste of meat, and they are slowly perfecting fake meat to the point where I can barely tell the difference between fake and the real thing.
Just like fake fur. Why would anyone wear fake fur? Well, they might like the look of real fur, but don't agree with killing for their fashion.

First of all, Meat substitutes are not dead animals.
Second of all, where is the rule that states the item we call a hot dog HAS to be made of flesh? Are you mad that "your" idea was copied? Last time I checked, the products you mentioned were not copyrighted or patented.
