A Grandparents Party. What a nice gesture!

I am sure that they can not handle a lot of the spicy foods as most older folks can not. Here is my suggestion:

Salad:
A romaine lettuce salad with what ever extras you would like. I usually set out a mini salad bar. I put out black olives, chopped mushrooms, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes that sort of thing. I also put out homemade Cranberry Salad Dressing. It is simple and goes well with anything. Simple to make:
2 cans of whole cranberry sauce, no the jellied
¼ cup of olive oil
½ cup of red vinegar give or take to taste
2 tablespoons of sugar again more or less to taste
Salt and Pepper to taste.
Put it in a blender and pulse it until it is the consistency you like.

Main Dish:
Chicken Breast;

Get some boneless chicken breast, remove the skin if you wish.

Take 3 cups of Captain Crunch
2 cups of Corn Flakes
1 cup of rice flour, regular flour is fine
2 teaspoons of salt (more or less to taste)
1 teaspoons of pepper (more or less to taste)
Put in blender and blend until it is a fine consistency.

Make an egg wash and drench the chicken pieces then roll in the dry mixture.
Fry until brown and the juices are clear.

Side dishes:
Garlic Mashed potatoes and gravy
Green Bean Casserole

Dessert:
Since it is a special occasion and it is being given for people who are as wonderful as Grandparents I would make them a white cake. I have Princess Diana's TRUE wedding cake recipe it is easy but long anyone that wants it can e-mail me at movingthestarz@yahoo.com and I will be happy to pass it along. Let the kids if they are old enough, decorate the cake for them.

Have a wonderful party!

A great buffet style dessert is a Fruit Pizza.

Using a pizz pan, make one giant sugar cookie using a tube of store bought sugar cookie dough.

After it cools, cover it with cream cheese frosting. You can favor the frosting with orange juice if you want.

Add concentric circles of sliced, fresh strawberries, kiwi, and bananas to fill the top of the pizza.

Serve in slices.

yummmmmmmmm

Here's a yummy and super simple and fast desert. Great for all ages!

Line the bottom of a 8x8 or 9x9 pans with ice cream sandwiches, layer with cool whip then some chocolate syrup. Do this again and top it off with Heath bits. Freeze until firm then serve.

Well, Chex Mix and Trail Mix if you mix them together in a bowl is always a good snack.

Dinner you could make Green Bean Casserole, Baked Beans and Scalloped corn and for dessert you could make German Chocolate Cake.

hi...

for drinks u cld try out some nice fruity summer punch:

Summer Fruit Punch

2 cups orange juice
8 ounces frozen pineapple concentrate
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
1 cup sugar
8 slices canned pineapple, including juice
2 quarts 7-Up crushed ice

1 Mix together first 5 ingredients and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Just before serving, place mixture in a punch bowl and add remaining ingredients.

and here's a simple recipe for chicken - to be served with baked potato or rice.

LEMON CHICKEN

INGREDIENTS:

* 2 (6 pound) whole chicken, quartered
* 1 dash garlic powder
* 1 pinch salt
* 1 pinch ground black pepper
* 2 onions, thinly sliced
* 2 green bell pepper, sliced
*2 lemons, juiced
* 1/2 cup white wine
* 1 pinch dried parsley

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2. Season chicken with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Place in 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Add onion and bell pepper slices by placing on top of chicken. Pour lemon juice and wine over entire chicken. Cover with foil.

3. Bake for 1 hour. Remove foil, and brown for about 15 minutes longer. Garnish with parsley flakes, and serve.

It doesn't say to soak the chicken in the juice overnight, but you sure could, I bet it'd be delicious and tender!

and for desert, u can try this if u like it: a very simple recipe...

Chocolate souffle
(yields 8-9 servings)

4 eggs
vanilla extract
250 gr melted butter
500 gr plain (black) chocolate
1 cup self-raising flour
1 cup sugar
cream (for serving)

Melt the chocolate either over boiling water or microwave for about 2 min (depends on temperature - make sure you don't burn it!). Then mix all ingredients together in the mixer. Then divide the mix in small cups destined for chocolate souffle and bake them for 6 minutes in 180. It is essential to serve with cream on top, so as to counterbalance the chocolate flavour.

have fun!

Try this. I bet it will be the talk of the party.

CAKE INGREDIENTS:
1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 box of white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent

SERVING "DISHES AND UTENSILS"
1 NEW cat-litter box
1 NEW cat-litter box liner
1 NEW pooper scooper

1) Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.

2) When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.

3) Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape
the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.

4) Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box. Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy!

virgin margeritas are always good, or you could even do fruit smoothies and coffee. How about a meat loaf, mashed potatos and gravy and green beans. Dessert how about a fresh fruit parfait.
