some people want to be vegetariant because they love animals a lot. Have you ever been to the Peta website? if you go there, watch the video of the cows going to be slaughtered. If you can still eat meat after seing that and knowing that in the process of helping those people by giving them you money for their meat, then you may be the sickest, most cold hearted person ever. It is cruel. If everyone hunted with no guns, no tricks, and it was almost fair, and they only killed by need, that would be ok. The way things are done now, so much is wasted and people think it is "natural" to eat meat. If it is needed to survive, then why are people able to be vegetarians? many people eat meat out of ignorance of what happens to the animals they are eating. Or they don't think of it as an animal that they're eating, just as some food. People are vegatarians because they cannot stand the thought of murdering animals because they want something that they can survive perfectly without. The aren't going to harm someone(the animal) whom has done nothing to harm them. Here is some logic that you might get, Do you go around tourturing, then murdering someone everytime you want something? It's the same thing you're doing to the animals. The vegetarians see what harm it is doing to the animals and rebel against it. If you are ever bored on a rainy day, here is something to think about : Why do humans always consider themselves the dominant, top species?
We really aren't, we just have a few things on our side, and suddenly, we think that we are great and don't have to be fair, or kind, and think we can do anything we want.

It's not stupid. It may not be your "thing" but that doesn't make it stupid.
There are several reasons:
- ethical: some people feel it is wrong to kill other beings when they feel that it is possible to get the nutrition required to live without other beings being killed;
- health: some believe that many chronic and acute illnesses come from the toxins and fats associated with meat eating;
- environmental: some people feel that by eating lower on the food chain, it is possible to lower the environmental effects of human food production on the planet.
These reasons are examples, there are others and they should not be dismissed as "stupid" even if you don't agree with them.
BTW I am a meat eater, so I am not trying to convince you, just to help you to open your mind.

For similar reasons as to why people want to ride motorbikes (I happen to do both). It's cheaper, cooler and better for you (well until you have an accident anyway). It's also better for the environment, but then you wouldn't care about that either would you??
Question is why would you want to pick a fight with people who DON'T have pigs **** for brains??
One last thing... cowboys suck!! Oh and would you care to explain why being a vegetarian is "stupid"??

Because we use our brains and think about compassion, health and the environment and looking at how easy it is to just give up meat for those benefits- ha, piece of cake. The difficulty is blokes like you who think it's amusing to poke fun at us. Read a book about it, maybe if you are less of an idiot about the subject you can objectively say, "I see why people would be vegetarian, although it's not for me." The way you put it here in the forum, it's like saying trashing someone's religion.

Because it is unnatural for people to kill and eat the meat of other animals.
I am not a vegetarian, but I have noticed something interesting in my kids, aged 4 and 6.
We encourage them to eat meat, because it is part of a healthy diet and we believe the protein is good for them.
Nevertheless, they are recently giving us problems because they get horrified and scandalised when they hear us say that we are going to eat duck, or chicken or fish and they have started not wanting to eat the meat because they are linking the killing act (which they know to be bad, hurtful etc.) to what they have in their plate. Like 'ow, how can you eat a duck, we like ducks!' phrases and they are driving me up the wall.
We do not have anyone in our family or close circle of friends who are vegetarian (not many in this part of the world), but this kind of behaviour I witness makes me think that eating animals is a cultural act which we are accustomed to, but which is instinctly repulsive to humans. At least to some of them.

it's a much healthier diet and we don't want to have anything to do with the barbaric,inhumane and completely unnecessary meat trade. it's not stupid to want to live cruelty free and be healthy.

Why would people want to kill innocent animals? Probably because they want to go to Hell when they die of the heart disease that meat will give them.
