What in the world! First things first, you cheated on your wife, which is distrustful. Second, you do so with a prostitute which is dumb, can you say STDs?? Third, unless the prostitute is a goat, of course, you could've gotten AIDS from her. Sex doesn't matter when you are talking about AIDS. AIDS isn't prejudiced. You may have AIDS, you need to get a blood test, right away. And your wife, needs to divorce you. What in the world are you doing having sex with prostitutes or anyone besides your wife for that matter? You are married, does that mean nothing now-a-days? Irregardless to what I think about your morals I sincerely hope you don't have AIDS, and you better hope so too!

hi i am a nurse, why does the prostitute being a women mean you can't get aids, that is very stupid, women can get aids as well through sex, drug abuse, your wife has reason to worry i would go and get a check, std's will show up in a test but aids or hiv won't show until 6 months after intercourse

I'm answering this on the off-chance that it's a serious question...
Your wife is right to be concerned. You should have a blood test.
HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, can be transmitted through contact the blood, vaginal fluids, semen, or breast milk of an infected person.
"Viruses are not able to enter the body through intact skin. Therefore viruses must enter the body through an open wound(s) or one of a number of possible body openings. Most of these body openings contain mucous membranes. Mucous membranes are thin tissues which protect many openings and passages in the human body. These membranes secrete mucus. Which contains anti-germ chemicals and keeps the surrounding tissues moist. There are mucous membranes in the mouth, inside the eyelids, in the nose and air passages leading to the lungs, in the stomach, along the digestive tract, in the vagina, in the anus, and inside the "eye" of the penis. Many viruses, if placed on the surface of a mucous membrane, can travel through the membrane and enter the tiny blood vessels inside." (From "Catching AIDS" at http://www.aproposinc.com/hap/catch.htm. Accessed August 31, 2006.)
In heterosexual intercourse, it is more common for HIV to be transmitted to women from infected men. But many men have contracted the virus from women.
Using condoms reduces the chance of infection, but does not eliminate it.

Gender doesn't matter. In fact, women are one the groups with the highest increasing rate of new HIV cases. Women are more likely to catch any kind of STD including HIV because they have more mucus membranes and tissue which is easier for the virus and bacteria to enter.
Your wife has every right to be concerned. It would be a REALLY good idea for you to get an HIV test done, not only for your wife, but for your own health.
Good luck to you!

you can get AIDs from a female. It is possible. What type of business are you in? I hope they fire you for stupidity. You could have gotten any other number of STDs from the filthy cesspool of disease that you had adulterous sex with you nasty man.

First of all, I'd like to commend you for being honest, but on the other hand, I would be frightened too. The other thing is to let her know if you were using protection or not. Condoms for intercourse and oral sex. Please, I urge you to get tested asap. Believe it or not, you can contract almost any std with exchanging body fluids.

Why would the gender of the prostitute make a difference? STD's are not gender based. Why did she think it was another guy?
