Hi Lopez. What a great question. Like a lot of people, I flirted with being a vegetarian for a long while before I "crossed over" to making it my way of life. I have thought about what was the "tipping point" for me, and there were many factors, but I think for me it was a moral weight that made me decide to make this choice. I believe there are many moral issues that surround the eating of meat (e.g., the treatment of the animals, the waste of resources in a hungry world, etc). It was these concerns that stayed in my mind the most as I embraced a vegetarian lifestyle. Does this mean that vegetarians are "better" than their friends who still eat meat? No, of course not, but it does mean that we have accepted the responsibility of awareness. We have looked at the reality of our own choices in this very inter-dependent world, and at the way those choices impact not only other people, but other living creatures, and we have faced that reality by doing something positive about it. I hope you are thinking about the same things and that you will be proud to be a vegetarian. I am.

I was influenced by a book I read that included essays on various reasons for vegetarianism, (they ranged from economics to ecology to animal cruelty to health benefits.) We weren't eating a lot of meat at home because my mom was raising me and my sister on a very limited income. It just all made sense to me. My sister and I have now been vegetarian for 20 years. My mom still eats fish.
The benefits are my health and the fact that I feel like I'm doing my part to reduce the demand for factory farmed food and, in turn, reducing the impact factory farming has on the environment.

My mother is a vegetarian. So I too become a vegetarian. A vegetarian doesn't eat meat, so it can help us slim down. But it is not good for kids who are growing up to become a vegetarian.

Mine was my job, health and my views on cruelty.
Being vegan or vegetarian makes it easy to be creative with cooking. It is so much more fun to shop for colorful fresh fruits and veggies at the farmers market than meat and milk in a freezer at a flourescent-lit store.
I would love to eat burgers and pizza every day. I still would love soda and cake and lamb with mint sauce. But just because I crave it doesn't mean it's right.
If I was a slave to my cravings, would have 10 kids by now, be high on inhalents, and pounding my head against the pavement to make art...and that ain't healthy for nobody.

i influenced myself, no one i know is really a vegetarian. My mom is sorta vegetarian, but for different reasons.
I don't like how animals are treated. People should eat only if they kill the animal themselves, or else it is just packaged for you and you have no clue what that animal has gone through. Plus I started to dislike the taste.
Healthier body and more energy.

i made the choice to be a vegetarian when i was a very young child, as i was (and still am of course) strongly opposed to animal cruelty. my best friend also reinforced my "vegetarian-ness" when she turned vegetarian herself nearly a year ago. being a vegetarian makes me feel good about myself, even when i get teased, because i am not giving my money to the cruel slaughterhouses and such that brutalize innocent animals. i've never had any health problems, and i've always been been a good weight (currently 5'6" and about 125 lbs). i also know i won't have to be as worried about my fat and cholesterol when i get older.

I started it cuz I hated the idea of eating smth dead, but then i started thinking of all those poor animals. And I think that is the main reason for wich I'm a vegetarian cuz now I've passed all that dead meat problem.
