I agree that you should go to a culinary school. It's great if you know how to cook by yourself, but most people will be more interested in someone with a degree.

You should also know what kind of recipes you like. Don't limit yourself, but don't just say "I'm going to try everything." Experiment. Make your own recipes.

Also, if you're going to teach cooking classes, you should have some 'tips' besides the typical professional knowledge. (By tips I mean things like putting a bit of salt in the water before boiling eggs, or microwaving a lemon for ten seconds before squeezing.) You can get tips from experimentation or other cooks, but the most common source is cooking shows.

Make a list of these tips and TRY THEM OUT FIRST, or you risk pissing off several students.

There are venues that you can teach at to get started. For example, Draeger's Supermarkets in N. California offer single evening cooking classes in their cooking theaters. It helps to already have a credential as a chef and particularly good if you have written a cookbook or two that he store can offer for sale.

Another opportunity is to get connected with a company that offers cooking instruction. There are many such companies.

Have you got culinary educational background? It will help.

I have also seen examples of cooking instruction that takes place in someones home, like the Apple Farm in Philo, California. Sally Bates runs it as her small business.

Start by going to a culinary school, or take a business course. Good luck.
