Get yourself a chiminey starter and do it outside. Crumple some paper under it, light it and in ten minutes you will have incredibly hot coals.

You shouldn't ever try to do it inside. The fumes produced by burning the charcoal are extremely hazardous.

Put a few of the charcoal pieces on an OLD saucer ( no metal ) and put it in the microwave. Give it full power for about 20-30 seconds / until it bursts into flame ( which won't be long, believe me ! ).

Be careful as it really does ignite quickly!! - I have used this method numerous times to light bbq charcoals; it works every time but it can smell a bit, so open a window.

i have a shisha pipe and we used to heat the coals by holding them round the edge and heating the middle and when they start to fizz u need to put them on the shisha and get one of those candle lighter things and do it while it is on the shisha!

Write your wills first, burning charcoal in the house releases enormous amounts of carbon monoxide into the air. You will be dead before long.
