Haggis is a traditional Scottish dish. Although there are many recipes, it is normally made with the following ingredients: sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver, and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for approximately an hour. It somewhat resembles stuffed intestines (pig intestines otherwise known as chitterlings), sausages and savoury puddings of which it is among the largest types.

Most modern commercial haggis is prepared in a casing rather than an actual stomach. There are also meat-free recipes specifically for vegetarians which supposedly taste similar to the meat-based recipes.

Haggis is traditionally served with "neeps and tatties" (Scots: turnip and potatoes), each of these being mashed, separately. (The "neep" is the yellow vegetable called 'swede' in England and 'rutabaga' in the United States.)

I think traditionally whiskey is served with haggis.

Hope this helps

Correct Haggis is lamb, and as for dinks, Tennants Scottish Ale, McEwan's Oatmeal Stout, Worthington's E or Newcastle Brown Ale.

As for side dishes, I saw someone say Swedes, the British name for turnips, or in Scotland it's Bashed Neeps and Tateys (Mashed Potatos), Fried Spinach, Creamed Carrots. With this a traditional meal for Robbie Burns' Day, is a January date. Dessert is a nice Black Bun, a steamed Fruitcake served with a hot custard sauce laced with Scotch Whiskey.

And remeber when serving to always address your Haggis properly???

I prefer the Alpine Haggis. It has two long legs on the right and two short ones on the left. It travels around the Alps in a counterclockwise direction. If it tries to turn around, it falls over and is easily captured.

Best drink. Scottish Egg Nog. Boil 2 dozen eggs. Peel. Soak eggs in barrel of Scotch for 12 years. Throw eggs away. Drink Scotch.

Best side dish, a large bowl of Pepto Bismol.

I'm not too sure. But Haggis is sheep. Not beef or pork.

Whisky!

Perfect side dish is mashed potatoes and mashed turnip - or mix them together if you're not too keen on the strong taste of turnip.
